National Christian Homeschool Basketball Championships

Joseph Kirkpatrick : January 9, 2016 3:25 am : Boys 14U, Boys 16U, Boys 18U

Hey everyone,
We will be missing the regional tournament this year due to a conflict with MTAC end of season tournament. So, I just wanted to give you all some information about the NCHC Tournament which we are planning to attend. The 25th Annual National Christian Homeschool Basketball Championships to be held March 7-11, 2016 in Springfield, Missouri. This is the largest homeschool event in the WORLD!

This happens to be the spring break for BG Technical College where some of the boys are enrolled in dual credit classes. This could be considered a spring break trip for them.

We need to know BY JANUARY 15th how many players can go as so we can make further arrangements and get them registered before Jan. 31. We also need to know what parents can go for the week as chaperons and/or carpoolers.

Here is some information from Rob Flatt about when we should be there:
Sunday night we have coaches meetings
Monday AM we begin the Boys 18u, Girls 18u, Boys 16u, Boys 14u, & Boys 12u Age Groups
Tuesday AM we begin the Girls 16u, 14u, 12u, 10u, & Boys 10u age groups.

Friday PM the Award Ceremony, All-American/All-Region Games, & 18u Undisputed National Championship Games are played.

I have reserved a block of rooms under Western Kentucky Trailblazers with my personal credit card. I called close to if not 40 hotels yesterday and most all were already booked. This is the best we could do, but still a nice hotel and not too far from Stadium and laundromat. I reserved 9 rooms that have double queen beds and 1 with a single king bed (which is taken for Layne). The hotel address is below. All of the rooms come with Free breakfast, fridge, microwave and coffee pot. The cost is $89.49 each. Our organization is going to pay for the rooms for the boys. (Possibly pay for the chaperons as well)

DAYS INN BATTLEFIELD RD/HWY 65

Every player has to register for the National Tournament. The cost is $30 per player before Jan. 31. After Jan. 31 the cost goes up to $35 per player. A legal guardian or parent must fill out the form for the player here: http://www.nchclive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=157&Itemid=462

Additionally all players must meet these qualifying guidelines:
http://nchclive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=198&Itemid=470

Summary of guidelines that would apply to our boys:
1. Must attend at least 51% of classes in homeschool setting directed by parent.
2. Must declare age as of Sept 1 of current school year.
3. Must meet 2.0 out of 4.0 GPA.

The cost for the each team is $500.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I know for certain my husband and I are planning to attend for the week and are happy to watch over and take care of any boys that plan to go. We have room in our vehicle for 4 more boys. If you think you are able to go and can drive your vehicle can you let me know so we can work out carpooling. My phone number is 270-303-9262. Feel free to call or text.

MTAC Tournament Rescheduled

Joseph Kirkpatrick : February 17, 2015 7:55 pm : Boys 18U, Girls 18U

Good afternoon –

We have waited as long as we could for some hopeful weather reporting but as of now it looks like some of us maybe seeing even more snow/ice today and tomorrow. Again while we are all excited for this tournament, the safety of our student athletes is by far the most important aspect in consideration.

With this being said MTAC President, Scott Dorsett, MTAC Vice President, Reid McFadden, and my self have talked and find our best choice is to move the entire tournament to next week. This will make round 1 play on Tuesday, February 24, round 2 on Thursday, February 26, with the semi finals on February 27th and Finals on February 28th. The schedule will say the exact same just moving the games one week.

Unfortunately, due to this change Currey Ingram will not be able to host both Friday and Saturday. Because of this we will have to move all semi final games set for Friday, February 27 to the higher seed school. These games will all be set for a 5 PM start, with understanding that times can be changed if both schools agree on changed time.

Again, we understand this is not the ideal circumstance for everyone but we truly believe this is the safer choice and will hopefully allow for us to complete the entire tournament in one week.

If anyone has any questions or issues please let me know over the next few days to help us solve these issues before the 24th.

Thank you and stay safe,

Jena Smith
